Accessing the site

 

  1. Start Microsoft Front Page.
  2. Click on “File” from the menu, then “Open Web”

 

  1. Next you should get a dialog box, type the url in the textbox at the bottom. In the case of a department account, the url should be http://departmentName.fullcoll.edu where departmentName is the name of the department. Or type http://staffwww.fullcoll.edu/username for access to a staff account. Example for my account, brippe, I need to type the url http://staffwww.fullcoll.edu/brippe.

 

  1. Click “Open”
  2. Another dialog box should popup prompting for the username and password. Prepend your username with “fc\”. So, if the username is “admissions”, “fc\admissions” should be entered.
  3. Enter your password and click the “OK” button

 

 

 

 

  1. Once authenticated, a list of folders will appear in the left hand pane titled “Folders”.

  1. To open a file, double click on the appropriate document and FP will open the document on the right of the “Folder listings”.
  2. To edit pages, simply click on the text to be changed and type as if you were in Word or Wordperfect.
  3. If satisfied with the changes, click on “File”, “Save”. If you don’t like what has been altered, simply close the file without saving the changes.

 

Files

 

By default the web server responses to requests without a specified document by returning the index.htm or index.html file. Therefore, you should name your home page file index.htm. When a user types your url, i.e. http://staffwww.fullcoll.edu/brippe, they will get the index.htm file.
